Capitol Area Greens

The Capitol Area Greens include members from the Green Party of Michigan in the counties of Eaton, Ingham and Clinton.

The Capitol Area Greens were formed as a local of the Green Party of Michigan on May 7, 2015.
By-laws for the group were adopted on Sept. 10, 2015.

The general purpose of the group is to advance the ten key values of the Green Party, and to
function as a local chapter of the Green Party of Michigan (GPMI). Specific activities include
monitoring and taking action on legislation that affects the values promoted by the Green Party,
sharing and disseminating information about Green Party values, and outreach to increase
membership in the Green Party and educate others about specific issues that require citizen
involvement. Other activities include recruiting and assisting candidates to run for local offices.
Membership in the group is automatic for all members of the GPMI who are residents of
Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties, unless they request to not be included in the local. Meetings
are held monthly except for July and December. Officers are selected at the April meeting to
serve for a year.

The local also has two representatives who serve on the State Central Committee of the GPMI.
