Randy Auxier is running for Illinois State Representative (District 115) as a Green! Randy will be able to work for his region with both Republicans and Democrats, and he will not have to line up with the forces that serve or oppose Mike Madigan. Randy can work with the state representatives and senators from his neighboring districts regardless of their political affiliations, and he thinks that is healthy for everyone.
Randy says, "The future of our region depends on sensible economic development that insures the future of tourism, our wine industry and small farms and orchards, and the sorts of businesses that will serve these industries. We need a new tax structure that is kinder to small business. I support the fair tax amendment, and I support the LaSalle Street tax. These methods of restructuring taxes in Illinois can restore us to being competitive in the Midwest without raising taxes on working people and families. I have thirty years of experience in higher education and I understand what needs to be done to restore Southern Illinois University - Carbondale (SIU-C) and the community college systems in our region. Affordability is the main problem. My long experience as a member, of and negotiator for the Illinois Education Association has given me a thorough understanding of the importance of unions in keeping both public administrators and private management honest. I think we must improve access to affordable healthcare and must think of this as maintaining a strong and competitive workforce. I am a supporter of the Illinois Single Payer Coalition. I believe that Black Lives Matter and I support de-militarizing the police service. I respect our police services and I am aware that they have done better by us than some of the places we see on the news. So I do Back the Blue, but I want it to be blue, not camo and kevlar."
